Admission to Ph.D Programme in Library & InformationScience, University of Calcutta

Advertisement for Enrolment to Ph D Programme in Library & Information Science for the Session 2015-16

 Applications are invited from suitable candidates for the Ph D programme in Library and Information Science, University of Calcutta, for the session 2015-2016.

 Admissions will be made on the basis of a written test, of three hours duration followed by an interview. Candidates with NET/SET/M. Phil are not require to appear in the written test but need to appear in the interview.

 The candidates should download the ‘application form’ from the university website for the admission test and interview and submit the same along with the application fee of Rs. 100/- in the proper challan obtainable from the University cash counter (11 am to 1 pm) to the department.

 The last date of submission of application forms is 20th November, 2015 (within working hours).

 Number of seats for the Ph. D. programme for 2015-2016 is 14 (Fourteen).

 Reservation of SC/ST/PH/OBC etc will be applicable as per the rules of the West Bengal Higher Education Institutions (reservation in admission) rules, 2013.

 Date and time of Written Test – 29th November, 2015 at 12:00 Noon.

 Written test will be held on the following basis:

1st Paper – General Studies (MCQ); 80 Marks; Duration: 50 minutes

2nd Paper – Library & Information Science (MCQ); 60 Marks; Duration: 40 minutes

3rd Paper – Library & Information Science (Descriptive); 60 Marks; Duration: 90 minutes

 Candidates must obtain qualifying marks in each paper (General – 60% marks, OBC-A & OBC-B – 54% marks and SC/ST/PH – 45% marks) to qualify for interview.

 The result of written test will be put up on the notice board of the department on 4th December, 2015.

 The interview of the candidates comprised of applicants with NET/SET/M. Phil and qualified candidates in the written test will be held on 8th December, 2015 from 2:00 PM in the Department.

 The list of qualified candidates for the enrolment to the PhD programme for the session 2015-16 will be published on the Departmental Notice Board in Last week of December, 2015.

Admission to Bachelor of Library & InformationScience ( BLIS ) Course 2015-2016 Calcutta University, West Bengal

ADMISSION NOTICE
Bachelor of Library & Information Science (BLIS) Course, 2015 – 2016

Duly filled in application in the prescribed form for Entrance Examination for admission to the Bachelor of Library & Information Science Course (Evening) (2015 – 2016) will be received by the Department of Library & Information Science, University of Calcutta till 30. 09. 2015 (Wednesday) (12 Noon – 3 P.M.) from eligible candidates. The Application Form along with Information Brochure is available at the University Sales Counter on payment of Rs. 250/-. An Entrance Examination will be held on 03. 10. 2015 (Saturday) at Asutosh Building for which candidates must report at 11 A.M. with Admit Cards.

Total Intake: 58. Admission will be made on the basis of the merit list of Entrance Examination, with reservations as per norms of the University of Calcutta (22% for SC, 6% for ST, 4% for OBC and 3% for Physically Handicapped).

Eligibility:
A Bachelor Degree with Honours (10 + 2+ 3) or Master Degree or a Degree in a technical subject (of the pattern 10 + 2 + 4 or 10 + 2 + 5) such as Medical Science, Engineering, Law etc. of this University or having an equivalent degree of any other University or Institute recognized by this university will be eligible for admission to the BLIS course. Persons appearing in the final Part of Honours Examination will be allowed to sit for the Admission Test. But their admission to BLIS will be subject to the condition of securing Honours Degree when the result comes out and also according to the merit list of BLIS Admission Test.

Tentative Date of Publication of Result: 09. 10. 2015

Tentative Date of Counseling cum admission: 15. 10. 2015
