Secondary Teacher Librarian: NIST International School, Thailand
NIST is looking for an effective and collaborative Teacher Librarian to join our Secondary School team. The Teacher Librarian collaborates with the Elementary Teacher Librarian, Subject Coordinators and the Deputy Heads of Curriculum) in maintaining and developing effective library and information literacy systems within the Secondary School. There is specific responsibility for supporting the learning needs of students related to literacy and research and for developing the library as an effective learning space.
Services to Students and Staff
- Cooperatively plans and teaches research skills and information literacy with Secondary teachers in order to ensure effective implementation of the Middle Years Programme- in particular the relevant core generic and Year Level Approaches to Learning skills
- Introduces and promotes a wide variety of literature
- Gives reading guidance and encouragement to individual students
- Supervises students in the library
- Informs teachers of new materials relevant to their topic work
- Provides or coordinates professional learning sessions to update teaching staff on library resources, technology or procedures
- Provides a general reference service
- Promotes the objectives of the library through displays, NIST News, and special events
- With other library staff, orientates and teaches students in the use of the library, its systems, resources and technology
- Advises students on leisure reading choices and promotes fiction through book-talks
- Keeps teachers aware of new materials that may relate to their subject areas
