Job Summary
To assist in the provision of an efficient and effective service by greeting and registering users, providing basic information about the service, enabling access to designated physical and online materials, collecting materials from stores, and referring queries to senior staff members as required.
Key Tasks To undertake invigilation duties and to co-operate with other staff in the provision of an efficient, effective and friendly service to users at all times. To respond to basic enquiries at the desk and via telephone. To collect and retrieve materials from stores as requested. To collect basic statistical information about service use. To record promptly and accurately the issue and return of materials. To be familiar with membership rules (e.g., use of materials, photography, access, etc.). To assist and source materials for disabled users as needed. To assist with monitoring of the physical environment, ensuring that desks are cleared and maintenance issues referred to the Estates team. Undertake any other reasonable duties as Archivists or the Assistant Director
Essential:
Good general education or equivalent experience. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent numeracy skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work in an accurate and methodical fashion, to agreed standards and timescales. A knowledge, understanding and competence in ICT, including use of standard office software and equipment and ability to use web-based tools.
Desirable:
Experience of working in a Library or Archives. Interest in the aims and objectives of higher education. Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (9 am to 5 pm) (Fixed Term for six months)
This role is paying £12.86p/h + holiday pay
